Family Histories

The Emerald Museum houses an assortment of hard copy Family History files for various long standing and prominent residents of Emerald and surrounding districts. This oeuvre of compiled family data has been the crux of the Emerald Museum’s collecting priorities, and contains critical details for the completion of family genealogies.

To give you a glimpse into our Family History files, an index is organised in alphabetical order by surname further down this page.

Family History files are easily accessible to the public by booking a collection access visit with our Committee. Contact us to book.

Do you want to get started on researching your family history? Check out the recording of our Researching Your Family History workshop co-presented with Myli - My Community Library, as part of the Australian Heritage Festival 2023. This beginner-friendly workshop will teach you how you can utilise your local library and museum to trace your family tree, whether you live in or outside of Emerald.
