CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

These summaries are designed to give you a glimpse of some of the activities you can undertake as a volunteer at the Emerald Museum. Many of our volunteers opt for a combination of duties from different roles for a well-rounded experience, and to continue learning new skills.

Front-of-House Volunteer

Commitment: 1 x weekday per week and/or 1 x Sunday, 12-4pm, every 4-6 weeks

We have an exciting opportunity for Front-of-House Volunteers to join our team.

As a Front-of-House Volunteer, you will be integral in representing the Emerald Museum and fostering a pleasant visitor experience. This role will introduce you to the fundamentals of Museum operations and audience engagement. You’ll also finesse your communication and interpersonal skills, as well as develop a commitment to service excellence.

This opportunity is ideal for students, retirees, retired teachers, those wanting to develop their communication skills, or those wanting to immerse themselves in local history.

Collections Assistant Volunteer

Commitment: 1 - 2 days per week for a minimum of 6 months; hours negotiable

We have an exciting opportunity for Collections Assistant Volunteers to join our team.

Discover what happens behind-the-scenes in a community Museum while you learn about cataloguing, develop your understanding of collection and Museum practices, and acquire specialised, valuable and transferable skills.

You will play a key role in engaging and educating our audiences by assisting in the digitisation and cataloguing of our vast collection. This is a role where you will see the fruits of your achievements in real time.

This opportunity is ideal for students in arts/humanities, art history, cultural heritage, curatorship, and information management, or those looking to immerse themselves in local history.
